Saturday Sale Reviews: March 10, 2012

I really loved the look of the striped parklane dress, especially on a curvier figure. So incredibly feminine and flattering, but the flowy fit is not at all body-conscious. On my petite frame, the hem hits at mid-calf, but I was able to blouse it out over the tie belt to shorten it to a preferred length of under the knee. It looks so effortless with flat boots and a cardigan in cooler weather. On sale for $129.99 from $178.

If it still feels like winter in your neck of the woods, consider picking up the counting clouds hat. The hat is fitted and the pom is a good size. It doesn’t look kiddie on, though I find the wool slightly itchy upon first putting it on. It looks good with long flowing hair just like the model. On sale for $22.40 in black on Shopbop.

The sketch club cardigan is one of those looks-better-on-a-body pieces. It’s also quite different in person than online. Online it looks closer to black and therefore heavy and more winter-appropriate. In person, it’s a very springtime knit with a salt-and-pepper color. It’s also that perfectly cozy cut that I’ve been looking for in a cardigan. Madewell used to make longer, thigh length cardigans, which I used to be a fan of. Now they are making cardigans that fit closer to the body. I’ve been wanting something that was looser but not oversized, and not long either, and this fits the bill.

Additionally, because it doesn’t look that impressive online or on a hanger, especially for its original almost-$100 price tag, I thought it best to wait til it hit the sales racks to recommend it. Now go and get it.
